I wanted to send a massive congratulations and nod to whoever came up with the Rivertown scavenger hunt experience. What a beautiful opportunity for community and getting out into it. We moved here in August and I feel so much more knowledgeable about the area. It must have been a massive undertaking to coordinate so I just wanted to say thank you because it’s been really lovely.

I'm having a great time playing the scavenger hunt. I’ve been finding new places and chatting with people along the way. It’s a nudge to get out and explore more.

This whole thing has been a stroke of brilliance, really accomplishing what it was intended to do, and I think even yielding some unexpected benefits. I was a bit of a skeptic going in, but now I am thoroughly sold! It's been a ton of work for all of you, but you should be proud of what you've done for our villages and their residents -- building community, enhancing business, broadening awareness of sustainable and park resources, and establishing a zany new Earth Month tradition!

While pulling invasives, I overheard one kid say to another, "This is fun!" Outside of scouting groups, not that many young people are exposed to volunteer work. This Scavenger Hunt is giving lots of young people a chance to try out a bunch of different kinds of community volunteering, and see how rewarding it can be!

“This is regional collaboration at its best. We share the same ecosystem corridor, and our residents already move across village borders to enjoy each other’s parks, events, and restaurants. Our sustainability groups and conservation commissions have long shared ideas and supported one another, so this felt like the natural next step. Now residents can celebrate Earth Month together, learn about all of the sustainable lifestyle choices in the region, and compete for a cash prize to support a local environmental project. What’s not to love?”
–Charlotte Binns, Sustainability Director, Village of Irvington
“I’m so excited to be part of launching this initiative, which will bring awareness, interconnectivity and joy to the Rivertowns eco scene. It’s been fantastic collaborating with the many stellar environmentalists from our string of villages, each of which is doing impactful and wonderful things.”
–Haven Colgate, Chair, Hastings-on-Hudson Conservation Commission
